Gettr social media app may be getting Trump

Former President Donald Trump does not have a known account on the social media start-up Gettr although discussions about his participation along with an equity stake are likely part of ongoing talks according to sources.

Censored from major social media platforms Twitter and Facebook, Gettr was founded by the former president’s aide Jason Miller as a platform for free speech.

Miller has stated in an interview with the New York Times that the social media site has received over $50 million in funding to date. In order to succeed in the competitive big tech landscape, Gettr will need to expand beyond the U.S although saying it has already engaged an impressive 2 million users including a growing base of users in Brazil.

Miller has stated that unlike traditional social media platforms, Gettr will not share or sell any user data. Some methods of monetizing the platform include commissions earned by tips paid to creators on the site, niche advertising and the potential of building out a payment services platform, Gettr Pay.

Miller is next expected to join Donald Trump Jr. at CPAC Brazil for a public appearance. Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro notably has a profile on Gettr.

If Trump joins Gettr - then do you think google and apple will then refuse to offer Gettr as an app?
