How to delete an app from your phone and tablet

If you’re like me, you’ve downloaded tons and tons of apps onto your phone over the years. I find myself scrolling through the screens when in fact the better thing to do is remove the apps I no longer use that are taking up real estate.  Plus, you should also delete some of the invasive apps I mentioned in this article and this one too.

Here’s what you need to do to remove apps from both your iOS and Android devices.

 

How to delete an app on iOS devices

1) Locate the app and press down and hold on the app

2) Click the “Remove App” row

3) On the next screen, click “Delete App”, then click “Delete” to confirm.

4) Another way of removing the app is if you touch and hold an app on your device.

• You’ll see all the apps begin to shake.  Click the “-” icon in the upper-left corner of the app.
• Click “Delete App” and then Delete to confirm.
• Click down and then the app is removed.

Note that some of Apple’s own apps can not be deleted from your devices.  You can find a list of these devices here.

How to delete an app on Android devices

Option 1:

1) Open the Google Play store app

2) In the upper right, click the Profile icon

3) Click “Manage apps & device”

4) Click the “Manage” tab

4) Click the name of the app you would like to delete

5) On the next screen, click the “Uninstall” button.

Option 2:

1) Find the app you would like to remove on your homescreen

2) Hold and long-press the app

3) A “App Info” row will pop up over the app icon.  Click that row.

4) On the next screen, click “Uninstall” and then click “ok” on next screen to confirm the delete.
