Top 4 online pharmacies for saving on prescriptions

Americans are spending more money on prescription medication than at any other time in history.   Prescription medications at retail total $421 billion according to the most recent data from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Prescriptions can be super pricey, and you should not have to worry about whether or not you will be able to afford the medications that you need.

That’s why more and more people are opting to use online pharmacies over their regular pharmacies, as many of them will only charge one low price for multiple medications.  We’ve chosen 5 of the best ones that you can start using today.

1. Amazon RxPass

If you are an Amazon Prime Member, then you are eligible to use its online prescription service known as Amazon RxPass. For just $5 per month, you can receive any eligible medication listed on Amazon’s site. To make sure that Amazon RxPass carries your medication before subscribing, head to pharmacy.amazon.com and type in the name of your medication in the search bar. Amazon also gives coupons that you can use to knock the price down even more. The more generic your medication is, the more likely Amazon RxPass will have it for cheap. For example, the high blood pressure medication Lisinopril is offered for an estimated price of just $1 for a 10mg/30-day prescription if you have insurance and $3.92 if you do not. Plus, you get free 2-day delivery. Note that your doctor will still have to give you a prescription for you to receive your medications.

2. CostPlus Drugs

CostPlus Drugs is an online prescription mediation service founded by Mark Cuban. You can search for your medication on their website, and if you find that they provide it, you can then create a free account, and you do not need insurance to sign up. Once you have an account, you can go to the site’s instruction page to find out how to go about having your doctor send prescriptions directly to the service. Once they receive your prescription, they will notify you once it’s filled, and you will receive it directly at your door within a few days. You will need to pay for shipping, which typically costs around $5. The more generic your medication is, the cheaper the cost. We checked again with the generic blood pressure medication Lisinopril if you were to get a 10mg/30-day supply, and it costs $3.90 for the drug plus $5, totaling $8.90.

3. BlinkRX

BlinkRX is another great online pharmacy option as it has no membership costs, offers free delivery nationwide for select medications, and offers discounts on over 15,000 prescriptions. All you have to do is have your doctor send your prescription to BlinkRX, pay online, and you will receive your medication within a few days. Pickup options are also available from your local pharmacy. You do not need insurance to use BlinkRX. However, you can give them your insurance information to help lower your prices even more if you do have it. Generic medications are always the cheapest. We checked Lisinopril again for the 10mg/30-day supply, and the total for this medication came to just $3.50.

4. GeniusRX

GeniusRX is another great and easy online option. We checked the cost for Lisinopril 10mg/30-day supply here as well, and the total came to $9. There is no membership fee to use GeniusRX, and you do not need health insurance to use the service. Plus, standard shipping is free, and customers typically receive their medications within just 1 to 2 business days. The service only accepts prescriptions from a licensed prescriber, so make sure you have your doctor send a prescription over before ordering your medication.
