Orlando’s plan for flying cars takes off

Orlando takes off with flying cars

Imagine looking up in 2028 and seeing flying cars buzzing through the skies of Orlando. That futuristic vision is inching closer to reality as the city’s international airport moves forward with plans to develop a vertiport—a dedicated hub for electric air taxis that take off and land vertically.

Orlando officials, including Mayor Buddy Dyer, are spearheading the project in hopes of making the city a leader in Advanced Air Mobility (AAM). The initiative aims to transform Orlando into a multimodal hub of the future, connecting high-speed rail, traditional air travel, and the next generation of airborne transport. Orlando’s push for a vertiport signals a bold step toward the future of transportation. As Advanced Air Mobility continues to evolve, the city could become a leader in flying car infrastructure, setting the stage for other metropolitan areas to follow suit.
