How to see everything Amazon knows about you

Amazon is huge. Its tentacles reach well beyond your shopping history.

It keeps recordings of your Echo devices and requests with Alexa, it tracks everything you’ve ever searched across their devices, app and site.

If you own a Ring video doorbell, they can see who comes to your door, when and how you respond to someone ringing the doorbell.  And this is just the tip of the iceberg of your personal details sitting in their control.

Bits and pieces of every Amazon touchpoint into your personal life has created a treasure trove of privacy data at their fingertips.

Just seeing what Amazon knows about you may blow your mind. It’s worth requesting your personal information recorded by Amazon even though it can take up to a month to show up as a link in your email box. Here’s how to do it.

How to Request Your Personal Info from Amazon

  1. Open a web browser and visit the Request My Data page at Amazon here
  2. Click the dropdown list to choose what data you want to receive (I picked Request All Your Data)
  3. Tap Submit Request
  4. Check your email associated with your Amazon account and click to confirm your request
  5. Amazons says it will send a link to your requested personal file within a month
