Apple issues security warning for iPhone, iPad and Mac owners

Apple is warning customers about a vulnerability in iOS, iPad OS and MacOS.

An active exploit in all of its popular product lines including iPhone iPad and Mac computers appears to be at the centerpiece of this warning directly from Apple.

“Apple is aware of a report that this issue may have been actively exploited,” says the warning.

The alert further goes on to describe that “an application may be able to execute arbitrary code with kernel privileges,” according to Apple.

That’s tech speak for the simple and threatening concern that a hacker is reported to be able take over your device and do something insidious.

That means it’s software update time. Apple has software fix releases for iOS and iPadOS to version 14.7.1 and later.

How to update your software on iPhone and iPad:

  • Launch Settings from the Home Screen
  • Tap General
  • Tap “Software Update” to install the latest software plugging this known vulnerability.

How to update macOS for Mac and MacBook computers:

  • Click the Apple symbol in the top left of your screen
  • Tap “About This Mac”
  • Click “Software Update”
  • Click “Update Now”.

Updating as soon as possible will offer much better protection. It is always safer using security software to guard against a future attack, hack or malware. You can check out my list of best Anti-Virus security software and apps here.
