Is your USB device a Security Threat?

Is your USB device a Security Threat?

by Kurt Knutsson

Fundamental flaw found in nearly every USB device that could be the next digital security threat. Black Hat hacker conference in Las Vegas has two bright researchers Karsten Nohl & Jakob Lell showing how your otherwise innocent USB thumb drive can be turned into the culprit of the next digital epidemic.

The duo from SR Labs saying nearly any attack on a USB device will go undetected. In the meantime, my advice

– Treat your USB thumb drive like you would your wallet
– Don’t take free USB drives from anyone and don’t loan yours out to even your closest friend.
– Longterm fix for this massive security flaw in the core of USB devices will take months maybe years to implement.
