It’s a new year which means there’s a plethora of new films and TV shows to watch on your favorite streaming platforms. We expect some great new content for 2024, so here’s what you can start with this upcoming week.
NETFLIX
Society of the Snow
Society of the Snow is a new foreign language film that is getting major awards buzz, as it is also nominated for Best Motion Picture – Non-English Language at this year’s Golden Globes. The film comes to Netflix on January 4 and tells the true story of a group of plane crash survivors who are stranded in the middle of the Andes in 1972 and have to navigate their way back home.
Good Grief
Good Grief is the latest project from Emmy-Award-winning writer and actor Dan Levy. Starring alongside Ruth Negga, Himesh Patel, and Luke Evans, Levy plays a man who is grieving the loss of his husband and decides to take his two best friends on a trip to Paris with him. You can catch Good Grief on Netflix on January 5.
The Brothers Sun
The Brothers Sun is a new action show coming to Netflix on January 5. The series stars Academy-Award-winning actress Michelle Yeoh alongside Justin Chien and Sam Song Li and tells the story of a man who finds out that his family is being targeted by a mysterious enemy and must return home to Los Angeles to protect them.

HULU
The Floor
The Floor is a new game show that will be hosted by Rob Lowe. The show will premiere on FOX on January 2, and will then stream on Hulu beginning January 3. The premise of the show is for 81 contestants to stand on a massive 81-square game show floor and answer trivia questions to compete for a massive prize.
PRIME
Eileen
Eileen is a thriller film based on the book of the same name written by Ottessa Moshfegh. It was originally released in theaters and you can now buy or rent the film on Prime beginning January 2. The film stars Anne Hathaway and Thomasin McKenzie and follows the story of a young secretary at a prison in Massachusetts in 1964 who becomes enchanted by the glamorous new counselor and their friendship soon takes a dark turn.
Foe
Foe is a new Sci-Fi/Thriller film that will be available to stream on Prime beginning January 5. The film stars Saoirse Ronan and Paul Mescal as they play husband and wife Hen and Junior. In the year 2065, they have their lives turned upside down when a stranger shows up on their doorstep and offers Junior a chance to live in space while a robot serves as Hen’s husband.
MAX
Going to Mars: The Nikki Giovanni Project
The new documentary Going to Mars: The Nikki Giovanni Project will be available to stream on Max beginning January 8. The film has already won a Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival and is getting rave reviews from those who have seen it already. It follows the story of Nikki Giovanni, a Black American poet who is sharing her experiences with the Civil Rights Movement, the Black Arts Movement, and the Black Lives Matter movement.

DISNEY+
Echo
Echo is the newest series from the Marvel Cinematic Universe that will be coming to Disney+ on January 9. The show will closely follow Maya Lopez, a character who was first introduced to the MCU back in 2021 with the Disney+ series Hawkeye starring Jeremy Reiner and Hailee Steinfeld. Echo will directly follow the events from Hawkeye as Maya must travel back to her hometown in Oklahoma to avoid being pursued by an evil organization and reconnect with her past and her Native American roots.

PEACOCK
Extended Family
Extended Family is a new show coming to NBC on January 2 and will be available to stream on Peacock beginning January 3. The show stars Jon Cryer, Abigail Spencer, and Donald Faison, and tells the story of a divorced couple named Jim and Julia who remain good friends and co-parents. However, when Julia meets a new man and gets engaged to him, they have to learn to navigate a new life together.
PARAMOUNT+
The 81st Golden Globe Awards
Award season is officially here and it’s starting with the 81st Golden Globe Awards airing on CBS and streaming on Paramount+ on January 7 at 8 PM EST. This ceremony is run by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association and focuses on some of the best film and television shows that have been released over the past year. Some of the film nominees include Barbie, Oppenheimer, Maestro, and Past Lives, while TV categories include shows like Succession, The Crown, Abbott Elementary, and The Bear.
