Apple doubles iPhone battery life with this newest magnetic innovation

Apple has just launched its newest MagSafe product in the form of an extended battery that snaps to iPhone 12 or later models with magnets. I thought we would have seen this happen earlier, and this is a welcome addition to Apple’s latest iPhone and the accessory market. MagSafe Battery Pack will be great for on-the-go charging. Early estimates are targeting a nearly double capacity to battery life on existing iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 regular models.

I could very well see making this my nightstand charger where I plug a lightning cable right into this new extra battery and go in the morning. A cool feature is how it will show the charging status and battery level on the Lock Screen of your iPhone in addition to the built-in battery.

Why is this important? Two things:

1) It nearly doubles the life of an existing iPhone 12 battery.

2) It is likely to set a trend in the market where other smart phone makers and 3rd party Apple accessory manufacturers will start selling new MagSafe-similar batteries that require no wires to connect, charge and extend power to smartphone.

Something to note. You must have the latest version of iOS software running on your iPhone for this to work. That means if you see a version earlier than iOS 14.7 on your iPhone, you need to go to Settings > General > Software Update.

Priced at $99 you can find the Apple MagSafe Battery Pack here.
