Kurt’s Best Tech of CES 2022

It’s the most influential tech conference in the world. The Consumer Electronics Show just wrapped up after reopening the Las Vegas floor to attendees.

With many opting to stay virtual, the smaller crowds make it easier to spot the future technology and get around the seemingly endless displays of what’s next for 2022.

Electric vehicles stole the show with GM announcing their Silverado EV coming in 2023.  I’m seeing better TVs that pair with streaming services, smarter alternative to Zoom, to smart learning tools for kids, important safety and security innovations and reinventing common things like a toothbrush to signal when you are brushing toward the cleanest smile.

ORAL-B iO SMART PRESSURE SENSING TOOTHBRUSH

Lights tell you when you are applying too little pressure, too much or just right for best cleaning.  Oral-B chose CES to announce 2 new brush models that utilize its iO technology — but at a more affordable price point.

The Oral-B iO4 and iO5 both enable better oral health with its spinning heads, a smart pressure sensor, sensing lights for brushing for 2 minutes.  I love the connectivity with the Oral-B app that uses 3D tracking in real-time.

These are launching later in 2022 for under $100 each.

ULTIMATE SQUISHY HUMAN BODY LAB

If you have ever wondered what could inspire a child to become a doctor, this new innovation will do it.  Ultimate Squishy Human Body Lab is a kids STEM invention coming this year with SmartScan technology aiming to hit retail as early as February.

Ultimate Squishy Human Body Lab with SmartScan Technology sets the standard for all other anatomy kits, featuring a 16-inch-tall human anatomy model with 25 realistic removable squishy organs, articulated joints, and an electronic sound module.

One of my best friends is an emergency physician, and now after testing out the Ultimate Squishy Human Body Lab I can understand his stories often shared.  He loved everything about this and wondered what took so long for something this realistic to make into the hand of developing minds to spark curiosity and powerfully share about the human body.

Smart Lab Toys, the maker, has figured out how to make learning about the body fun and educational.  The Ultimate Squishy Human Body Lab is expected to sell at $99.99 when it comes out.

WONDER

When you try this out, you’ll understand why Nasa, Harvard, Deloitte and Paypal are just some of the organizations using Wonder.

“Wonder” is a browser-based 2D virtual space where groups can get together to create connections in a way that feels natural and energizing.

Take it from me, go now and just see what it is so you’ll know how smart and natural this way of meeting and connecting feels.  With this, I never want to Zoom again.

Wonder introduces a better way to meet and network online in the age of tech fatigue through spontaneous human interactions.

Wonder recently launched and is growing rapidly.  Bravo to the smart minds behind this incredibly well thought out innovation.

Guests move around the space freely, choosing their conversation partners and actively shaping the event.   This makes space for serendipity and fosters interactions and connections between meeting participants.  Check it out at Wonder.me.

2024 CHEVROLET SILVERADO EV

Electric Vehicles dominate the future of automotive at CES.  The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV was officially unveiled during CES, a reimagined full-size pick-up that GM promises will offer up to 400 miles of range.  A limited edition 2024 Silverado EV is said to have sold out on their reservations within 12 minutes.

To be built at Factory Zero in Detroit, and leveraging the power of GM’s Ultium EV platform, the 2024 Silverado supports DC fast charging capabilities up to 350 kilowatts, which means you can get 100 miles of EV range with just 10 minutes on public DC fast chargers.  For Tesla lovers, that will be easily put your best supercharging experience in snail pace speed compared to GM.

I love the support for Super Cruise, the industry’s first true hands-free driver-assistance technology on more than 200,000 miles of highways across the U.S. and Canada. Reservations are open now, with a Fall 2023 ship date.

BMW COLOR-CHANGING PAINT TECH

In a nutshell, BMW advanced research and design group is tapping into a similar kind of E-Ink much like the Kindle.  This BMW IX Flow contains millions of microcapsules.

Negative charged white pigments with positive charged black pigments case the paint to change to the desired shade.

Don’t expect to see this for sale anytime soon, BMW says this is strictly an eye-popping futuristic concept of what paint on your car may be able to do way into the decade ahead.

On Fox you mentioned a newer ear pod. I couldn't remember the name, but it began with "N".
