Job Description

Managing Editor
CyberGuy is seeking someone with deep, hands-on experience in leading, creating, writing, producing and distributing consumer tech digital content

Job Highlights

• An accomplished leader in digital content publishing who also loves consumer tech will lead our editorial production team of writers and producers
• Remote full-time staff position after initial period for those eligible to work in the United States

Qualifications

• You have leadership experience producing, editing and distributing digital news and video content
• You have experience in storytelling from writing consumer tech-related content
• You have a bachelor’s degree in journalism or related media field or equivalent experience
• You have top-notch planning, time management and organizational skills
• You have a willingness to cultivate and nurture relationships by being a teacher – not just an editor
• You are deeply familiar with what does and doesn’t work in a digital and social media, and news culture
• You have rock-solid news judgment and the ability to identify compelling meaningful stories
  
• You are skilled at quickly going in-depth and explaining complicated concepts in an understandable way for anyone to follow
• You work well under pressure and with proven leadership capabilities in an environment with a lot of moving parts
• You have experience in WordPress and content management systems

Key Responsibilities

• You will oversee content creation, production, publishing and distribution
• You will supervise writers and video editors’ day-to-day activities, act as a mentor and coach, ensure stories are accurate and meaningful
• You will assign, review and edit articles and videos
• You will also do tech reporting as needed, as well as regular work with freelance and staff writers and producers
• You will help writers and video producers hone skills in a wide range of storytelling: from quick-turn news to narrative how-to info, comprehensive product reviews to investigative reporting
• You will use metrics and analytics to increase digital audience and engagement
• You will manage overall content narrative and editorial style
• You will maintain ethical, honest, and objective standards in writing, reporting and video production
• You will copyedit, verify, and approve all editorial work before its published to ensure it is error-free
• You will test all work before publishing that explains a ‘how-to” process to ensure anyone can accurately follow the steps
• You have a flexible schedule able to meet the demands of 24/7 tech news content production
