Job Description

Research Associate (freelance)

CyberGuy is looking for a real honest-to-God true life geek who loves consumer technology to be our hero in research and fact-checking.

Your role will focus on researching assigned editorial stories, and flushing out step-by-step instructional detail on Android, iOS, iPadOS, macOS and Windows platforms with incredible accuracy.

• You are skilled at writing clear and compelling content on deadline
• You are skilled at quickly and patiently going in-depth and explaining complicated concepts in an understandable way for anyone to follow
• You are curious and able to source facts and information with ferocious thoroughness and accuracy

• You have great attention to detail
• You can think strategically and solve problems independently
• You are resourceful and able to get answers when none are apparent
• You have experience working with a team to bring smart content to life

Key Responsibilities

• You will research the core foundation of editorial articles completing step-by-step instructions that are easy to understand, powerful, and meaningful.
• You will help identify and pitch articles that our audience will find engaging, topical, helpful, entertaining, and relevant that complements our written articles
• You will be responsible for fact-checking the technical work and processes described within the work of writer and producer colleagues so that it is error-free.
• You will test editorial work that explains a ‘how-to” process to ensure anyone can accurately follow the steps
• You will nurture and educate fellow colleagues even though you know you are right, and some others’ work may need clarification to be most powerfully accurate and meaningful to our audience.
• You will collaborate with our other writers, editors, and content managers
• You will qualitatively check your work for accuracy before submitting it
