Do EMF blockers really protect us?

What are EMFs and EMF blockers, and are they helpful?

by Kurt Knutsson

Recently, we received this email from one of our readers about EMF blockers. It reads:

Hi, I was looking for some info about EMF blockers. I’ve heard about the dangers of low-frequency radiation from Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc., and that various blockers/buffers are available. So I thought I would check out your take on them.

This is a great topic, as many EMF-blocking gadgets are available. From smartphone bags to laptop cases, let’s review our favorite EMF blockers and explain what EMF radiation is.

What is an EMF?

Electromagnetic fields (EMFs) are invisible areas of energy produced by anything that uses electricity, from power lines to smartphones. EMFs exist on a spectrum, with low-frequency fields on one end and high-frequency radiation on the other. There are two main types of EMFs:

Non-ionizing radiation: This includes low-frequency EMFs like radio waves and microwaves, which are emitted by cell phones, Wi-Fi routers, and microwaves.

Ionizing radiation: This includes higher-frequency EMFs, like ultraviolet (UV) rays, X-rays, and gamma rays. These can be harmful in high doses, so medical professionals limit exposure to X-rays.

What is EMF radiation?

EMF radiation is the energy given off by devices that produce electromagnetic fields. As our reliance on technology grows, we’re exposed to more of this kind of radiation daily—from our phones to Wi-Fi signals. The closer and longer you’re around these devices, the more exposure you get.

Should you worry about EMFs?

Some debate exists about whether low-level EMFs, like those from phones and Wi-Fi, can be harmful. Some research has suggested a possible link between long-term exposure and specific health issues, such as cancers, but the evidence remains inconclusive. Organizations like the World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) have classified low-frequency EMFs as “possibly carcinogenic,” meaning the link is uncertain but worth further investigation.

Most experts agree that everyday EMF exposure from electronics is relatively safe. However, for those who are concerned, there are ways to reduce exposure, such as using EMF-blocking gadgets, limiting time spent on devices, and keeping electronics away while sleeping.

What are EMF blockers, and how do they work?

EMF blockers are designed to protect us from the potential harmful effects of EMF radiation. Manufacturers and advocates claim these devices can reduce or eliminate exposure by blocking or completely absorbing EMFs. They come in various shapes and sizes, such as stickers, cases, clothing, crystals, and even full home shielding.

EMF-blocking products are usually made from materials that absorb or reflect electromagnetic fields. For example, these products often use conductive metals like silver or copper because they can create a barrier that deflects EMF radiation away from the body. Products like phone cases, laptop shields, or EMF-blocking clothing aim to protect you from radiation by placing a physical shield between you and the EMF source.

Let’s check out some of our favorite EMF blockers that are available.

GoDark Faraday Bags for Phones

The GoDark Faraday bags for phones help protect your privacy from location trackers, hackers, and environmental damage that could be caused by solar flares, EMPs, or even electrostatic discharge. The bags work by blocking both incoming and outgoing EMF signals from all electronic devices, including tablets and other GPS devices.

Every GoDark Faraday Bag features 2-layers of GoDark’s own RF shielding fabric, which they independently lab test to ensure military-grade standards for EMP shielding and EMF protection. Law enforcement organizations trust these bags, so you know you are getting some of the best EMF protection available when you purchase a GoDark bag.

The GoDark Faraday Laptop Sleeve is ideal for protecting your privacy from location tracking and keeping your laptop safe from hacking and damage that could be caused by hacking, electrostatic discharges, or even things such as solar flares and EMPs. This sleeve works by blocking both incoming and outgoing EMF signals from nearby cell phones, tablets, laptops, and all mobile devices.

Just like the smaller mobile bag I just highlighted, the GoDark Faraday Laptop Sleeve is designed with two layers of GoDark RF shielding fabric that is independently lab-tested to ensure it matches military standards for EMP shielding. Again, GoDark bags are the trusted bags used by law enforcement organizations such as the FBI, so you know you are getting one of the best EMF blockers on the market.

These Cellphone EMF Protection Neutralizers are simple yet effective for mitigating exposure to EMFs from devices like smartphones, tablets, and laptops. These stickers work by neutralizing harmful EMFs rather than blocking them entirely. This means using these stickers won’t change the outcome of an EMF reader, but what’s important is that they work to assist your body in resisting the effects of EMFs. This allows your device to function normally while giving you some protection against the potentially harmful effects of EMFs.

These stickers, with a sleek, discreet design, can easily be applied to the back of any device. They offer ongoing protection from 5G, Wi-Fi, and other EMF sources. This pack comes with multiple stickers, covering a wide range of electronic devices. They make a great addition to any home or workspace.

Kurt’s key takeaways

EMF-blocking products can, in some cases, reduce EMF exposure by using materials designed to deflect or absorb radiation. However, whether this reduction leads to significant health benefits is still unclear. Most regulatory bodies consider typical EMF exposure from modern devices to be within safe limits, so the need for EMF blockers is largely based on individual preferences and concerns rather than firm scientific consensus. However, while the debate is still out on the effects of EMFs, it’s never been a bad idea to spend some time away from your electronic devices.

Do you use any EMF blockers? In the comments, let us know what your experience has been like!
