The tech behind CARMEN
CARMEN is built on the FLEXI robot platform from the University of Washington. However, the UC San Diego team made significant hardware modifications and wrote all the software from scratch. They’re using ROS (Robot Operating System) to run CARMEN’s brain.

The team is planning to test CARMEN in more homes. They also want to teach CARMEN how to have conversations while keeping your privacy safe. Carmen does sound great. I’m currently enrolled in a national study program (post heart attack) where cognition is one of their study features. And I don’t do particularly well. I’d love to have some robotic assistance.
