We are building our system to be the safest driver on the road. Kodiak’s autonomous trucking technology simultaneously monitors every area around the vehicle, it doesn’t get drowsy or distracted, and reacts faster than a human driver can.
Update: Kodiak Robotics achieves milestone with first driverless commercial delivery
Kodiak Robotics has completed the first-ever driverless commercial semi-truck freight delivery in North America for Atlas Energy Solutions, Inc. in West Texas’ Permian Basin. Atlas has ordered Kodiak-equipped trucks and plans to launch commercial driverless operations in early 2025, starting with two autonomous trucks and scaling to 24/7 operations thereafter.
This partnership marks a key milestone on Kodiak’s road to profitability and establishes it as the first autonomous semi-truck company to begin commercial driverless operations. The inaugural 21-mile delivery transported frac sand from an Atlas depot to a wellsite without anyone in the cab, demonstrating the technology’s potential in challenging environments.
Under the agreement, Kodiak will provide its autonomous driving technology to Atlas via a driver-as-a-service licensing model. Atlas will own the trucks, and Kodiak will supply its hardware and software stack along with operational support services.
