Whether you’re new to smartphones or you consider yourself an apple wiz, you may be surprised to learn that there are still some smartphone secrets and hidden tricks that you didn’t know you could do.
Learn more about these tips from my segment on Hallmark’s “Home and Family” show and then check out the specifics below:
1) What’s putting the drain on your battery most
Whether on an iPhone or iPad, you can see the top apps that are eating up most of your battery life.
Go to Settings >General >Usage>Battery Usage
2) Easily see every photo texted to you by a friend
Open the “Messages” app. Tap “Details” in the upper right corner
3) Share your exact location with a friend
You’ve got an easy tap to share your location from within Messages by clicking “Details”. The only thing for you to decide is for how long you want to give your friend access to your whereabouts.
How to Share Your Location: Open Messages, click “Details” in the upper right corner then select “send my location”
4) Help Siri say your name correctly
Activate Siri by pressing the Home button or holding the Home button and saying “Learn how to pronounce my name” .
Siri will guide you through the process of first and last names while giving you the three choices of pronunciation for you to pick each time.
5) Free 411 directory assistance
Tip for android and any smart phone
Don’t dial 411 unless you want to get nailed with a charge of $2.50 on our phone bill. Instead, 800-Free-411 offers directory assisance with no charge if you are willing to listen to a 10-second ad.

Great post, Kurt! The second trick really amazed me. I never knew the “Details button” ever existed in the message app until i read this post.
