The new low-cost iPhone SE is shockingly powerful

by Kurt Knutsson

Apple introduces the cheapest iPhone since the coronavirus pandemic began. Priced 40% lower than than the basic iPhone 11, the new iPhone SE has one more appealing feature – unlocking the iPhone SE with TouchID instead of FaceID which does not work when wearing a facial health mask.

New iPhone SE key points

Starting at $399 the second generation iPhone SE comes with a 4.7” Retina HD display in this thin design that plays and records 4K videos, has a longer battery life and super fast A13 Bionic processor found in more expensive iPhones.

That same processor powers the the single 12MP camera on the aerospace-grade aluminum back side making it better than any single camera system Apple’s ever made. The front self-facing camera comes in at 7MP. Key features to love are also the water resistant nature of the iPhone SE that can withstand being dunked in a meter of water up to 30 minutes.  And for those who love a button more than a swipe up to get to the home screen, you’ll love the classic round home button survived the rebuild in the iPhone SE.

Wireless Charging and 12-hour Battery

With battery life similar to the iPhone 8, expect to get about 12 hours of usage between wireless charges. The biggest difference between the iPhone 11 and new iPhone SE is now the price.
