With all of our devices, we want to always make sure to keep them, their operating systems, software and apps current as manufacturers are always updating them to remove bugs and make them as secure as possible.  Androids automatically push these updates (schedule vary by phone), but if you want to check and be proactive for an earlier install, you can do the following.

How to check for system updates on an Android device

  • Click Settings app
  • Scroll to bottom and click System
  • Click System update.  If there is an update it will display” Update available”.  Click it and follow the prompts to install onto your device

How to get security updates on an Android device

  • Click the Settings app
  • Click Security
    • If a security update is available, click Google Security checkup
    • If a Google Play system update is available, click Google Play system update
  • Follow the prompts on the screen to install
